Riyadh Metro, or metro train, is the longest driverless rapid transit system serving the kingdom’s capital. It is part of the Riyadh public transport project, which aims to build, operate, and develop a world-class rapid transportation network. The Riyadh Metro was inaugurated by His Highness King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on November 27, 2024.

It consists of six color-coded lines and 85 stations spanning a 176 km-long track. Regular service started on the Blue, Purple, and Yellow lines on 1 December 2024. The Red and Green lines opened on 15 December, and the final Orange line will open on 5 January 2025. The complete high-resolution Riyadh Metro Map with all lines and stations is given below. Riyadh Metro Map

According to the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), the Riyadh metro is capable of transporting 3.6 million passengers per day. The metro network covers densely populated areas and connects the main points such as hospitals, universities, shopping malls, employment centers, and government offices. The metro network directly connects Riyadh’s major hubs, linking King Khalid International Airport, King Abdullah Financial District, universities, downtown, and the public transit center.

Riyadh Metro Lines

Riyadh Metro consists of six color-coded lines: Blue (Line 1), Red (Line 2), Orange (Line 3), Yellow (Line 4), Green (Line 5), and Purple (Line 6). To facilitate residents and visitors, 85 metro stations are distributed along the 176km metro track at key points.

Riyadh Metro Ticket Pricing

If you want to plan a trip on the newly launched driverless metro, you will obviously need a ticket. Riyadh Metro tickets are divided into four categories based on the duration of the pass. The short-term pass is valid for 2 hours, while the long-term passes are valid for three days, a week, and a month, depending on the price. The pricing for all available ticket options is provided below.

Riyadh Metro Operating Hours (Timetable)

The Riyadh metro operates daily from 6 AM to midnight, ensuring service availability during business hours and throughout the day. The metro opens at 6 AM and closes at 12 AM. This comprehensive operating schedule makes it easy for the residents and tourists to plan their trips, whether they’re going to work in the morning or entertainment in the evening.

Key Stations of Riyadh Metro

The Riyadh metro stations are fully equipped with all facilities providing comfort and safety to the passengers. They are all air-conditioned and have internet facilities. Among the 85 metro stations, four main stations are located at the intersection of metro lines and the bus network. In these four stations, there are parking lots, shops, and ticket outlets. These stations include:
